Mission to the unchurched in the UK involves a journey to meet people where they are. It means we are learning as we go how to connect, how to disciple, how to form churches that fit new contexts. We continue to learn. But we also seek to learn with others and share some resources and learning to help other on the journey. Our heart is to come alongside churches and teams and help them connect in new and fresh ways with their community.
There are 4 main forms this takes:
Breathing Spaces started in 2016 with a grant from the Aldhelm Mission Fund. It is designed to work with others to apply the success of Space for Life. Breathing Spaces will look to help create similar communities and explore the use of quiet days and spiritual direction amongst those seeking faith
Our Learning Community is for pioneers and their teams to offer ongoing support and learning for those starting and sustaining new forms of church. It meets 3 times each year and team leaders are also offered 1:1 coaching between each meeting
We use the Mission Shaped Ministry course material, developed by Fresh Expressions, to offer training to people. We have offered this material as a yearlong course to individuals. We are also open to working with teams, using the material more flexibly to fit learning more closely to circumstances
We also organise annual workshops on specific and quite varied topics. Our hope is that they serve as a useful resource to churches, organisations and individuals in their mission to reach out to those around them
