With the closure of No34 both Reconnect and Space for Life have been seeking where they might now gather. Both communities have grown and thrived at No34 to the point where both were beginning to think that it was time to find a different space.
After a time of waiting, prayer and seeking Space for Life have been welcomed in at The Look Out cafe which is above The Climbing Project Centre in The Dolphin Centre. This cafe, there to serve users of the climbing centre doesn’t open until 12pm but the owner has offered Space for Life use of the space for free from 10am – 12pm each Tuesday morning. It’s a quirky, colourful creative space – perfect for this creative community!
Reconnect also spent time waiting and praying. The closure of No34 has coincided with the imminent opening of The Spire, the newly refurbished High St Methodists site. The first phase of this development includes a community cafe, Wesley’s. For the past 2 weeks Reconnect has been able to use this space and we are now reflecting on whether this is the right place to continue gathering in the coming year.
Both of these stories reflect our commitment to a kind of nomad existence. It is great to have places that are ours, where we can control the space and the ethos. But there are also great blessings in being hosted by others and by being willing to go on something of an adventure of the Holy Spirit, following where he is leading.
