"Ocean Church has entered its third winter as a little community. As I write, we are looking forward to an event where Reconnect and Ocean Church might join forces in Hamworthy Park to sing carols together. This year has been one of experimentation and a slow turning of an "I" thing into a "we" thing. I am now at a place where we have a team pursuing the shared dream of reframing church as a living, breathing adventure. We are excited, if a little apprehensive, but have cherished all the moments this year when we’ve pushed the boat out.

 

2025 will be a year of building strong habits, procedures, and teams, which will provide the framework for new adventures.

 

Many people have followed us along the way, possibly including you. We are holding an event on February 1st, 2025, where we will officially launch Ocean Church on its way and commission me (John) as minister. It will be an extended, fun-filled event with food and outdoor activities to try. We particularly want to invite anyone who has been cheering us on through prayer, financial support, or offering wisdom from the sidelines.

 

Looking back, I can’t help but think that if PMC hadn’t helped shape this vision, I might never have had the confidence to take it this far. I want to thank everyone at PMC for shaping, mentoring, and praying through this journey with us.
